Involving 10,000 school children of all ages each year and currently active in over fifteen Jewish schools, GIFT teaches 'giving' in a practical way. The GIFT It Forward initiative, encourages children to give one of their birthday presents to the less fortunate, assists Bar/Bat Mitzvah children to formulate and implement new kindness projects and provides tailor-made volunteering opportunities to sixth formers. GIFT volunteers regularly collect and distribute tons of surplus bread and food to local families and organisations as well as food packathons around Jewish festivals, whilst the newly-launched GIFT BOX encourages shoppers to buy one extra item for those in need.

Today there is an epidemic of sexually transmitted infections in the UK. The UK also has the highest teenage pregnancy rate in Western Europe. The Jewish community is part of these shocking statistics. JAT answers the unspoken need to provide religiously and culturally sensitive sexual health education to Jewish youth. Annually we train 4000 young people and their youth leaders, in mainstream Jewish schools, youth groups, summer and winter camps, those going on Israel tour and students. JAT is also developing a Peer Mentoring programme and we run a programme for parents on how to talk to their children about sex. In addition, JAT provides support for people with HIV. We extend our services to the entire spectrum of the Jewish community and are not allied with any particular 'wing'.

Jewish Blind & Disabled is the only charity providing caring assisted living accommodation for people of all ages with physical disabilities or vision impairment. It transforms the lives of its 350 tenants and their families by offering independence, dignity and security at its seven complexes of apartments across north London. Tenants range from people in their early 20s to their late 90s, from people who work and live busy and active lives to people with a high level of dependency. In every case Jewish Blind & Disabled provides as much support as is needed, 24 hours a day every week of the year, in a warm and supportive Jewish environment. Jewish Blind & Disabled is a completely independent organisation, not part of any other charity, and its services are increasingly in demand. As the need for its work far outstrips its ability to supply, it has a long waiting list.

The Jewish Children's Holidays Fund has been providing holidays for Jewish children from disadvantaged homes and for those with special needs for over one hundred years. Today it helps over 400 children each year enjoy a holiday which would otherwise have been prevented by financial, social or health reasons. Many of the holidays take place at the Fund's own holiday camp: many more children are enabled to participate in holidays through other Jewish organisations. These include making significant contributions towards holidays for children with special needs. Each holiday provided now costs in excess of £400 and our contributions cover all affiliations. The Fund receives no help from any statutory source and depends on bequests and donations to continue its work, which means so much to so many families.

The institute's centenary was honoured by the State of Israel through the issue of a postage stamp in its honour and it is currently proceeding with the continued modernisation of its dormitories and facilities to meet the growing needs of the blind child in the modern Israel. The Institute warmly welcomes all visitors from abroad to tour its campus. Monthly meetings provide opportunities for sufferers to have social contact with each other, whilst enjoying speakers, musical or other entertainments and refreshments. Funds are applied for practical help to make life easier for Jewish MS sufferers and for annual holidays for members in a suitable venue - enabling the carer, usually the spouse, to have some relief from the day-to-day difficulties with which they have to cope. Rishon also discharges the Jewish Community's responsibility in contributing to the research funds of the MS Society, in the hope that a cure is found for this dreadful and debilitating disease. By including the Rishon MS Aid Group among the beneficiaries in your will, you will be helping to alleviate the suffering and bring the cure to MS nearer.

The driving concerns of Dr Gold's life were young people, Israel and Jewish community service and appropriately these scholarships combine all three elements. Selected young Jewish people in the Redbridge area are assisted in funding a pre-university year on an approved study and training course in Israel with the understanding that they have a commitment to future involvement on their return. The success of the scheme over nearly two decades has been the number of the Scholars who have become deeply involved in a wide number of communal organisations and projects. Meir Panim is the largest supplementary welfare service agency in Israel. It was established in 2000 to provide practical solutions to the problems facing Israel's poor, the ranks of which have swelled dramatically in the last few years. The Meir Panim network of relief centres encompasses 30 branches throughout the country and provides almost a million meals every year to the underprivileged, elderly, homebound and Holocaust survivors. At the same time, it works to prevent poverty, distress and dependence on governmental aid or charity, and to build self-esteem and independence amongst needy populations from all sectors in Israel.
Meir Panim's UK branch was opened recently in order to raise awareness and funds for the organisation's activities in Israel - you can make a real difference by getting involved.

In the face of growing hostility, Jewish apathy, and increasing welfare needs, more Jewish students depend on their Jewish Chaplains at university than ever before. Our Chaplaincy couples work as husband and wife teams providing practical, spiritual and welfare support in a professional and confidential manner as well as a Jewish home away from home. Thousands of Jewish students, at their formative stage of life, depend on our teams living and working in nine campus regions across the country. We rely on your support to maintain this crucial service and address a rapidly growing need.

Youth Aliyah Child Rescue has given countless children H.O.P.E. With the Happiness, Opportunity, Protection, and world-class Education that Youth Aliyah provides in their five villages, these children grow up to be successful, confident individuals. Youth Aliyah was born in 1933 to rescue children from the Nazis and bring them safely to Palestine. Today, we have widened our objective to include children who have been traumatized and abandoned by their parents and countries. Filled with a new understanding and empathy for others, our graduates prove to the world that violence and hatred don't stand a chance against love and H.O.P.E.
